Here is a photo of a Pied-billed Grebe.
And here's the story.
While walking through Craig Regional Park, I noticed a man with a pair of binoculars.
(Note: If you see someone with binoculars in a park, the person is most likely an avid birder.)
So I asked him what birds he had seen.
He told me that (among others) he had seen a Pied-billed Grebe in the lake.
From far away, this bird can be mistaken for a small female duck. It can also be difficult to find because it will dive under water for as long a half a minute searching for fish. Then it surfaces long enough to catch a breath, and disappears for another swim.
After a bit of searching, I found it. The bird had just caught a fish. (Gulp)
After that I took about 200 photos from different positions.
And I kept three, which include these two.
The Point:
1) Asking for help makes you more successful.
2) Diligent effort produces better results.
Much success,
