High performance organizations have two important elements.
1) Truth.
Everyone tells the truth -- to themselves and to each other. As a result, there is candid dialogue. There are real solutions. There is continual improvement.
Conversely, in a dysfunctional organization no one tells the truth. Everyone pretends that the bizarre behavior is normal. Thus, problems fester into destructive liabilities.
2) Feelings.
Everyone acknowledges feelings -- their own and each other's. As a result, people make decisions based upon how their actions affect other's feelings. They show compassion. They work as a team.
Conversely, in a dysfunctional organization no one considers feelings. They ignore their own and everyone else's. Thus, they act like machines without regard for how their actions make others feel.
This is important.
Truth and feelings connect people into being members of an effective, high performance society. This applies at work, at home, and in every organization.
Of course, the manifestation of truth and feelings requires a high level of emotional maturity. And this begins at the top, with you, the leader.
So, here is a friendly reminder to make sure that truth and feelings prevail in your organization.
Key Point: Truth and feelings are essential for a high functioning organization.
